Automated Film Props
Sustainability Statement
At Automated Film Props we take sustainability seriously.
Andy and I are both keen divers, who have seen firsthand the impact of plastic pollution and climate change on the marine environment.
When you work with us, you can be sure that we are always seeking to exceed industry sustainability standards.
This starts at the prototype stage, when we know that iterations are likely. Everything we print whilst you are developing your concept is in PLA, a full biodegradable material. Whether its prototype 1 or 5, everything we produce, once no longer needed will be responsibly disposed of.
We remain eco-conscious when all the decisions have been finalised, and we are tasked with delivering production ready components. These will be printed in durable materials such as PETG, but we don’t have to compromise as this is a recyclable material. We also use push fit joints where we can to reduce the need for glue.
So what happens after a production is finished? As we said, we take sustainability seriously, so to do our part fully, we offer a buy back scheme, so that all of our work can be repurposed or recycled responsibly. Whether we’ve been involved in the physical making of a prop, or just supplied the hardware and component parts, we will repurpose as much as we can.
Our hardware can be reprogrammed to have new functions and be reused in a future project for you or a new client. Or if we have been involved in the mechanical, physical and technical build of a prop which could have multiple use cases, we will add it to our hire collection. All of those props are then fully customisable sub assemblies which we can also provide with STL files so that you can change as desired.
So for your production this means improved cost efficiency, as you can recover a small percentage of your spend and simplify your logistics because props can be returned instead of stored.
We are proud of where we stand on sustainability, and we are always happy to answer questions about our practices.
